When can I host a Bake A Wish event?

You can host an event anytime that suits you! Many people choose to host a Bake A Wish in February or March to make the most of delicious summer baking recipes, but if that doesn’t suit you, you can do it at any other time during the year.

You can even choose to do a few events throughout the year - some offices like to do a monthly Bake A Wish morning tea!

Is Bake A Wish happening nationally?

Absolutely! Wherever you are in Australia, you are invited to join Bake A Wish!

How can I support Bake A Wish?

Whether you’re a pastry pro or baking novice, anyone can register to host a Bake A Wish event. You can even use store bought goodies- we won’t tell! However, if baking is really not your thing- you can simply donate to the campaign and make a huge difference that way!

How do I register to host a Bake A Wish event?

It’s just a piece of cake! Go to this page to get started.

Do I have to bake?

Nope! Some of our fundraisers host a pizza night as their Bake A Wish event… creativity is highly encouraged!

Does it cost anything to register to take part?

There is no cost to register for Bake A Wish. If you’re hosting an event, you might incur a small cost for ingredients - or alternatively, you could ask each guest to bring something from home to share!

Is there a minimum fundraising amount for Bake A Wish?

Not at all! Every dollar raised, from events big and small, will help us make more life-changing wishes come true.

Are donations to Bake A Wish tax deductible?

Every donation over $2 is tax deductible. Supporters who donate online will automatically receive a tax deductible receipt at the end of the financial year from Grassrootz (our fundraising website).

If you are collecting cash donations and would like to give your supporters a receipt, please collect their details and the total amount they donated and send it to us so we can generate a receipt for them.

How soon after my event do I need to pay in my funds?

Please pay in your funds raised within a fortnight of your event. If you are planning on holding multiple events throughout the year, please pay in the funds raised within two weeks of each event rather than holding onto your funds until the end of the year.

What support will I receive?

Our wonderful fundraising team will be here to help you every step of the way. We’ve put together a free fundraising toolkit to help you plan and promote your event. We’re also available to chat to on 1800 032 260 or at fundraising@makeawish.org.au whenever you need!

What shall I do about food allergies and food handling?

Make sure all your ingredients are fresh and food is prepared, handled and stored in a hygienic way. Check out Food Standards Australia and New Zealand if you need more information.

It's handy to know what ingredients have gone into your baking as some people may have allergies. It's a good idea to mark anything containing nuts, dairy, eggs and gluten. If you have any questions or require any more information, we recommend checking out www.foodstandards.gov.au.

Make-A-Wish Australia accepts no responsibility for any issues arising from the selling of foods prepared for Bake A Wish events, including food allergies, food poisoning, anaphylaxis and any other illnesses or sickness caused by food products and/or their preparation, storage, handling, presentation or consumption.

Do I require a permit to sell baked goods?

Regulations vary in each State and Territory for this if you are holding an event outside your home or workplace. Please check the legislation in your state for more information.
